Gracias Por Estar Cerca…

That’s my lil fancy way of saying, thank you my dear reader for staying close. I am so touched by the love and support you have shown for this blog. Every single one of you that has stopped by and taken time to read.

When I started writing my five-part tribute to my departed brother, I wasn’t sure how it was going to be received because it was not your usual post adorned with hilarity nor one with pointers on how to have the best relationship around. I realize those are the most read ones. My feeling is that the world is sad enough without us going around looking for sad things to read, no? My tribute was inspired by a certain mother whose blog is sorely about the death of her teenage-son. How he was cremated… I will admit (while bowing my head in shame) that the most I did was read two posts. I was overwhelmed with emotion and I conveniently forgot the address to her blog. That was some sad shii, no kidding. A very big thank you to every one who followed the tribute. You are probably stronger than I am. Every little message of sympathy/empathy (as the case may be) that you sent my way, was received with immeasurable gratitude.

Now that the tribute is done, and it’s a new year, I thought to say hello to you and write something random, something chatty. I don’t want you cringing every time you see there is a new post from me and thinking, here we go again…it’s time to cry. This said in good jest 🙂 So, I want to give a special shout out to you, who left a comment. That is not to say that I don’t appreciate you who read my blog quietly without leaving a mark… sniper mode, if you like 🙂 I know there are some blogs I read and follow incognito. See? We are many.

My Tweeps

Most of my readers I believe are my tweeps friends from twitter. Hallo @nanciellah (she has the most amazing fashion blog ever!), @chiirah (kept asking me when I was going to start a blog), @wiselar (we broke our blorginity around the same time), @mackel9 (a faithful reader and fellow blogger), @boyfulani, @kenyansista (one of my very first readers, and she has an outstanding blog), @suetiful (I stalked her for days to show me what wordpress was all about), @kbaab (she did a post that mentioned my blog and I was so humbled-twas such a big deal), @supremegream (left a comment saying that I had it in me to blog, very encouraging), @savvykenya (she be BIG in the blogosphere), @wanjamajid (her blog is good things!), @nzembi (this girl is a genius- an architect), @kaggzie (she loves my hair :-p), @oture, @truthslinger (for the longest comments in town-full of insight, my blog wants to be his blog when it grows up), @wyndago, @siteiya (her mum is like my dad, telling us how much we should weigh), @sienna, @gracekays (another long time reader), @mrsmwiti (an amazing lady), @kawi (a superb blogger), @ItsnowRC (owner of this blog), @wakarima (I was so humbled the day I discovered I was on her blogroll), @saitonne (my awesome friend), @aoko, @distantspectator, @alffie (first guest-post on my blog), @gitts, @joliea (she done this blogging thang for mighty long), @akellove (she owns one of my favourite blogs plus she cool peoples), @nymmoh (my sweetheart), @just-era, @stevekitots (his photog blog is smashing!), @carolkmail and @magaribina (these are two AMAZING writers, when they read your blog, you know you might be doing something right 🙂 ), @kalengi, @lamzana (hugs & kisses, dearest sweet one -she hates being told such things), (@bintiM (the day I saw her blog, I spent a whole morning reading it, she bad!), @MercyMaina (we shared a good cry), @skubi, @shaydest (did you finally figure how I think? 🙂 ), @jamesquest (he hates my about-page, and he told me *sigh), @euphoricsecret (Dandara’s home-girl), my two precious dolls @switcheeks (she is always watching) and @violetotina, @Buggz79 (Amazing writer, and he encouraged me to blog by tagging me to his “Letter to my 13 year old self”), @nkirdizzle (she has 71000 plus mind invaders, astounding!), @MediaMK (if you haven’t read his blog, get out of town!), @greatrnk (I new reader, one with a HILARIOUS blog on relationships), @soul_fool (I believe she is the owner of lost-in-thought), @bellaellaella (you better have read, or else ;-)), @momoknows (she is fam). My “Anonymous” Readers

These are the angels (yes, I said that) who God sent to my blog to encourage me. They randomly landed on my blog, read it, and left their finger-prints on it. Hallo there “Her”, “Pitzevans”, “Emy”, “Diana”, “Tito”, “Shuhhy”, “Maua”, “Secrets of a good looking girl”, “Nyambura” (your comments and hip language really really made my day lady), “Cesky Cess”, “Cuppatea”, “Irungu”, “The Spinster” (Girl, we should talk sometime, your story is one I can relate to. Enough said), “Jwanjiku”, “Wangeshee” (I insist, you are my mother’s namesake) and last but not least “Eve Hearts Photography” (Son! You should see the photos on this lady’s blog. Too good! Now that we are friends and everything, how about you… you know give me a photoshoot?).

Arm-twisteeez…

Read my blog or else…! These are my friends whose hands I have literally twisted for them to check out my blog. Sharrout to Nikittacole (My sister), Moe (my journalist friend and a girl I deeply admire), Tyra (and she is a hard one to arm-twist), BC (for the day she will read this, I still believe), Mwende (my long time friend, she sent a couple of her friends here as well), Sizzla and Vinnie. I would be a phony if the real people in my life weren’t reading my stuff, right? 🙂

My Numero Uno

Rule No. 1, always save the best for last 🙂 He has been with me through my entire blogging journey. He put a gun to my head and told me today (on the day I started blogging, duh!) you have to start blogging. I kid. I had wanted to start a blog for the longest time, but he *actually*made me start. He is the one person I have consulted on everything. For instance, the name of the blog (I had several names in mind, sijui “Editor’s Daughter” (now that I think of it, that name would never have flown). He owns my extra set of eyes. He reads my work, affirms it, critiques it and encourages me. For everything he has done for my blogging experience, plus doing the hardest job which is making me the happiest girl in the world, I say thank you. To quote Floetry in their song Closer, “Iss obvious I’m in-a-ya”. 😀
